Lotus Cup UK and Elise Trophy Oulton Park

Rob Boston Racing were back out at Oulton Park on the 20th June for the Lotus Cup UK and Trophy Championships with a mixed start that matched the weather!

Jason Baker had a strong qualifying session and claimed 2nd in Cup and 3rd in Trophy, Freddie Hetherington qualified a solid 6th and the wet conditions worked to Adam Gore's disadvantage with a 5th place lap time. An incident with Ryan Savage and the tyre barrier on the last corner resulted in a damaged car and no qualifying time set; the fight would be on to work through from the back of the grid.

The damp conditions persisted into the first Trophy race, bringing out the safety car and shortening race time. Baker almost had 3rd place but missed out by a fraction going side by side over the finish line, weighed down by success ballast on board.

Next up was the 1 hour Cup endurance race; Gore dominated, with a perfect pit stop and unfazed by dry tyres on a slippery track he took the win with almost a 30 second margin. Baker was running 2nd in production for most of the race with Savage just behind piling on the pressure. A spin for Jason in the last moments of the race left him with a 4th place finish and Ryan crossed the line in 2nd with great championship points.

The second Trophy race promised close, exciting racing with a reverse top 10 format and did not disappoint! Ryan started from the pitlane and charged through to 8th place before a blown engine and some very impressive flames quickly ended his race. RBR were delighted to have David Stead back with us after a big accident at Rockingham threatened to end his season - in his newly built Lotus David had great pace and was confidently running within the top 10. Freddie had an amazing race, starting 3rd, he lost a couple of places but hunted the opposition down and claimed them back to take his first podium finish of the season! Jason started 6th and in an accomplished drive, stormed through the pack taking the win! Next up...Spa Francorchamps!
